In the interest of keeping too many cities from spreading the player base too thinly, the main site focus shall be within four districts; others will be added to the 'World' page as needed, and of course recommendations for new locales are always welcome. If you are seeking a character who is not normally found in one of these four cities, the administrative staff will be more than happy to help you work out a way to either retcon his origins, or 'move' him to the appropriate city.
Metropolis
An economic boom that has taken root over the past ten years or so has resulted in a wide variety of social, scientific and architectural developments throughout this shining city. With every year, the buildings seem to grow higher and higher, with the core of Metropolis in particular towering over the suburbs. Crime is at a fair level here, but the recent influx of superpowered vigilantes has begun to have some effect.
On the cutting edge of technology, and housing both a super-powered alien and a megalomaniac CEO, Metropolis is going to be seeing a lot of bullet-proof and kevlar-ripping threats, albeit threats lacking a terrible amount of subtlety. Superhuman thugs, Intergang and heavily armed militant groups with cutting edge weaponry will be operating within the city's limits Gangs outfitted with advanced technology will all but swarm the city, and superpowered villains will be aplenty, even without direct interference from certain evil bald men. If you're the sort of guy who can punch through concrete, make things explode with your brain, or turn into a seven foot tall golem, you might find a good home here.
Gotham City
In many ways the result of a great city gone rotten, Gotham is a nest of thieves, murderers and corrupt officials, its dark streets echoing with the ever-present screams of its populace. For decades, the criminal element has run rampant throughout the streets, with few if any good officers to hold them in check. Although there are whispers that a dark force is rising to suppress the evil that has taken such root, there is little solid proof, and being caught in the city slums after nightfall is tantamount to a suicide attempt.
Truly a city that never sleeps, unless you count the occasional nightmare, the threats that lurk here are as subtle as a shadowed knife between your ribs. Just because you can shoot fire from your fingertips doesn't mean you'll be able to clean up the streets; for one thing, you'll have a hard time finding anything of note. For that matter, dirtying the streets won't work so well, as fire tends to lead people right to you. To succeed in Gotham, you have to be smart, sneaky, and especially lucky; otherwise, muggings and the occasional convenience store robbery will be all you'll ever get you'll ever stop... or accomplish.
Jump City
Found near San Francisco, this upclass, affluent city has been recently plagued by a variety of metahuman thugs and unnatural disasters, turning what was once America's most beautiful city into a very dangerous place. Still. Nice view, at least?
Hello, Giant Monsters. For some reason Jump City sees more aggressive behemoths than Tokyo, which is one of the reasons the heroes who take residence here seem to have a habit of pairing up in groups. Naturally, this tendency has also led any villains in the area to form teams as well, turning super-powered street battles into the equivalent of a metahuman gang war. This city is best designed for you if you're thinking of making your character more social; working directly with others, even befriending your teammates, rather than mostly operating alone. Many of the threats Jump City faces on a regular basis would give even the heaviest hitter a difficult time, so the key here is to combine your strengths and coordinate your assaults to get the job done.
Central City
This bustling Missouri city was, like its sister city Keystone, once a bustling port for the cattle drive; upon the completion of the Trans-Continental Railroad, however, the city began to expand considerably. In the present day, Central City is a vibrant and wealthy city, with a varied populace and rich history; one of the most notable aspects of it, however, is that it is also the central headquarters for S.T.A.R. Labs. This is no accident, either, as more and more metahumans and other acts of general 'weirdness' seem to be taking place in the city, leaving the admittedly stretched-thin science institution scrabbling to get to the bottom of what's going on.
A bit of a blend, Central City truly has it all; mobs, tech gangs, the occasional giant robot or tornado, a real cornucopia of variety. As a result, the vigilantes and villains who spring up here are equally as varied, making Central a colorful- and dangerous- place to live. If Metropolis were chocolate, and Gotham were peanut butter, Central City would be a Reece Peanut Butter Cup.
